Hamworthy Harriers:

 

The Hamworthy Harriers were established in 1987 and the Harriers philosophy has always been to balance the sport of running with an active social side and a sense of fun.

 

We are a running club affiliated to Dorset AAA’s and England Athletics, which allows for reduced entry fee to races/events for affiliated members

 

 

Club Runs:

 

Monday: 6:30 pm from the Hamworthy Club, Magna Road. Usually between 4 - 8 miles

 

These runs take place off-road during the months of March to October. After working up a thirst on the run members usually retire to the comfort of the Hamworthy Club for a bite to eat, a few refreshments and some lively conversation.

 

Other evenings and Sunday’s by arrangement

 

 

Events:

 

Individual members participate in road, cross country and trail races throughout UK distances: of : 5km (3.1 miles) | 10km | 10 miles | Half - Marathons

 

Marathons - including the London Marathon and many others throughout the UK or any other organised events

 

Park Run - these are free to enter events held on Saturday morning at various locations (must be registered with Park Run to get your official time when finishing) We also participate as a club in Team events - relays, cross country and Dorset Road Race leagues such as:

 

Wessex Ridgeway 100km - team of 6 each doing 2 laps

 

Holton Lee Relays - 5km laps, teams of 5 or other organised relays

 

Wessex Cross Country League

 

Dorset AAA Road Race League - series of specified races held annually, with team and individual member prizes.

 

Hamworthy Harriers Membership:

 

Affiliation fees are £20.00 - this is for members who will run/compete in events covered by England Athletics rules and are 1st claim members

 

Affiliation fees of £10 - this is for 2nd claim runners (these are affiliated as 1st claim to another running club) or members who run socially (non-competitive).

 

Whilst a small club, we have had many successes over the years - both individually and as a team.
